Scott Pruitt, Oklahoma Attorney General, has been waging a silent war against President Obama and his environmental policies right under our noses. To make matters worse – the bomb won’t detonate until Pruitt is sworn in as the chief of the Environmental Protection Agency [EPA].
The attorney general is intended to be the lawyer for the people – but instead of advocating for the concerns of the public – Pruitt has compromised the integrity of his office by being in bed with some of Oklahoma’s biggest oil and gas companies.
The energy industry has contributed $16 million to various political campaigns to get them to push back on EPA restrictions. Pruitt has taken the bait, and has received $215,574 in his campaign war chest since 2010. Greg Abbot, Attorney General for Texas, also took the bait and has amassed $2,459, 204 in his coffers from the energy industry since 2006.
It’s no wonder why Texas is still the epicenter of the oil industry with 27 operable refineries
By advancing his own personal interest, Pruitt has ascended to the top of the chain to become the President of Republican Attorney’s General Association, which has banded together to collectively challenge Obama on environmental issues – Obama Care and immigration.
In all fairness to media accuracy – it must be noted that the Democrats teamed up with the Sierra Club to use the court system to impose stricter regulations on energy companies to protect the environment.
All the Republicans are doing is attempting to reverse these regulations utilizing the Attorney’s General as a catalyst for change to make billions for fossil fuel companies such as Devon Energy – not to mention their own pockets!
Pruitt has become the chief architect of the legal battle that’s fermenting against Obama’s climate change policy where the EPA regulations forced power plants to significantly reduce their emissions of planet-warming carbon dioxide pollution.
He’s managed to consort with 28 states to get them to join him in a lawsuit against the EPA and this will be the green light that he needs to dismantle efforts to counter climate change. The case is pending in federal court – but is expected to advance to the Supreme Court and when Trump is sworn in as the next president of the United States of America, there’s no doubt that he will appoint a conservative to the bench that will empathize with the energy industry.
When this occurs, the Clean Air Act that’s designed to combat anthropogenic climate change [global warming] that was first proposed by the EPA under the Obama Administration is going to suffer dire consequences.
Now here’s a man that’s after Trump’s own heart, because after Pruitt became the president of the Republican Attorney’s General Association – he broke free of all restraints. He cut his ties with the Republican State Leadership Committee, which represents state elected officials. Now all of this just didn’t happen overnight – it took some time in the making. Just like a person puts cookies in the oven to bake – it takes some time for them to cook before you can remove them. The energy industry has been grooming Pruitt over the years and now he’s ready to be taken out of the oven.
Now you can vividly understand why Trump selected Pruitt to become the next EPA chief and how this has become a defining moment in both of their lives. One of the top chef’s that’s been marinating Pruitt’s ideology on the energy industry is none other than billionaire Harold G. Hamm, Chief Executive of Continental Resources, an Oklahoma oil and gas company. With Hamm as Pruitt’s co-chairman for his 2013 re-election bid there was no way for him to lose the election and Oklahoma has pushed its way to the top and has become one of the most productive oil-producing states.
The tag team of Hamm and Pruitt sued the Interior Department, and in July 2016 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed the Lesser Prairie Chicken from the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife. The doors are now open for Hamm to drill for oil and natural gas and disavow the natural habitat of the Lesser Prairie Chicken.
Trump has vowed to increase oil and gas drilling on federal lands and open up offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean and other areas where it is presently being blocked and you better believe that there’s a political and financial connection between Trump and the energy companies that receives the very lucrative contracts to drill for “Black gold”!
